The Extech RF41 Portable Battery Coolant/Glycol Refractometer with ATC (°C)
A refractometer is a simple instrument used for measuring concentrations of aqueous solutions. It requires only a few drops of liquid and is used throughout the food, agricultural, chemical, and manufacturing industries.
When light enters a liquid it changes direction – this is called refraction.
A refractometer measure the degree to which the light changes direction, this is called the angle of refraction. A refractometer takes the refraction angles and correlates them to refractive index (nD) values that have been established. Using these values, you can determine the concentrations of solutions. For example, solutions have different refractive indexes depending on their concentration.
The Extech RF41 Portable Battery Coolant/Glycol Refractometer with ATC (°C) measures the Propylene/Ethylene Glycol freezing point from -50 to 0°C and the Specific Gravity of battery acid from 1.11 to 1.30 and provides a quick reference of battery charge condition.
The Extech RF41 requires only 2 or 3 drops of solution for fast and accurate readings.
Automatic Temperature Compensation provides repeatable measurements on an easy to read scale. Prism and lens with a simple focus adjustment. Includes carrying case and calibration screwdriver.
